Alstom's presence in Mexico dates back to 1952. 1968 was the birth of the first Metro in the country, in Mexico City, for which Alstom provided the first trains - some of them are still in circulation. Since then, the company has contributed to the development of the country's infrastructure, providing modern smart and sustainable mobility solutions.
Our clients include all the passenger operators in the country such as the Ministry of Communications and Transportation (SCT); the Collective Transportation System (STC) and the City's Electric Transportation Service, both in the country's capital; the Urban Electric Train System (SITEUR), in Guadalajara; and Metrorrey, in Monterrey, and we are associated with the main freight operators in the country. In just over five decades, Alstom has established itself as the market leader for rail infrastructure projects.
In January 2021, Alstom completed the acquisition of Bombardier Transportation, creating a global mobility leader committed to responding to the growing need for greener transportation in the world.
With this incorporation, Alstom Mexico has more than 1,600 employees working in 14 sites, including the Ciudad Sahagún plant in Hidalgo, specialised in passenger rail vehicles, as well as after-sales maintenance and customer service, where the highest world-class quality standards.

Guadalajara light rail
Execution of the turnkey project on the railway for Line 3 of the Guadalajara light rail. Supply of 18 Metropolis trains, communication systems, high voltage substations, traction and traffic control systems based on Urbalis 400.

Mayan Train
In June 2021, the Bombardier-Alstom-led consortium won the international public tender to build 42 X'Trapolis trains for the Mayan Train, a large-scale rail project intended to transform the country's sustainable mobility.

Locomotives
Alstom Mexico carries out maintenance in the locomotives of the main freight operators in Mexico, such as Ferromex, Ferrosur, Kansas City Southern de México and Ferrovalle, in addition to modernising and maintaining the Metrorrey Collective Transportation System in Nuevo León.
