Railway history in Austria dates back centuries, and Alstom is playing a leading role in shaping its progress. At our Austrian production site Austria, we develop, manufacture, and maintain vehicles and components both for the Austrian market and for international customers. Alstom specialises in building market-leading light rail vehicles for multiple cities around the world — including Manchester, Istanbul, Gold Coast, and, of course, Vienna.

The site in Vienna is the global competence centre for streetcars and light rail vehicles and employs around 800 people who cover the entire value chain - from initial customer contact to development, assembly, component production and post-commissioning support for our customers around the world. Worldwide, Alstom has only ten sites (out of 140) that play such a large role.

  • Corporate social responsibility

Alstom Austria assumes responsibility for society, diversity and the environment and focuses on sustainability along the entire value chain. This corporate responsibility is a crucial part of every business decision.

To underline our commitment to diversity and equality, we have signed the Diversity Charter (German: Charta der Vielfalt). The Diversity Charter is an initiative to promote respect for all members of society - regardless of gender, age, origin and skin color, sexual orientation, religion and world view, or physical or mental disability. The initiative is led by the Austrian Economic Chambers.
