Train control and information systems at a glance
- Global leader in train control and information systems
- An innovative portfolio of solutions and services
- Scalable to any rolling stock configuration
- A comprehensive lifecycle management package
Over recent years, there has been a significant increase in the use of digital technologies in the transport industry and this trend is continuing. Enabling technologies lead to increased operational efficiency and enhanced passenger experience. Train control and information systems (TC&IS) are the foundations for rolling stock digitalisation.
The train backbone
The train control and monitoring system is the brain of the train. With robust standard electronic modules and modern communications technologies, Alstom provides scalable solutions that are tailored to the needs of each customer.
Enhanced passenger experience
By bringing IT technologies on board, we provide innovative solutions that enhance the passenger experience. Edge computing (decentralised data management) provides the on-board resources to host a range of applications such as entertainment, passenger information and passenger counting.
Using these technologies, our customers can develop applications or host additional applications during the lifespan of the train.
The connected train
With high-capacity and reliable communications links, the train becomes interoperable with ground-based systems for integrated fleet management. A connected train can be considered as an extension of the enterprise IT system.
Functions are distributed between the train and ground systems; with data analytics for fleet performance monitoring and maintenance needs; content management for passenger infotainment; and closed-circuit television for passenger security.
Lifetime care
Through continuous monitoring of delivered solutions, Alstom can provide its customers with obsolescence and vulnerability status to support long-term operations. Alstom is also able to provide technology refreshes and upgrades to support customers’ operational needs during the lifespan of the train.
