Mainline systems at a glance

  • All-in-one integrated regional and main line systems
  • Capitalising on Alstom’s multi-disciplinary expertise
  • On time project; controlled budget

With its best-in-class expertise in all rail solutions, from infrastructure and signalling to rolling stock and services, Alstom today offers project owners a fully integrated turnkey solution for the construction of new railway lines.

All-in-one integrated systems

This approach offers the client a single point of contact and removes the complexities of multiple project contributors and the associated tenders. With a single interface with the customer, the project is developed and delivered on time or even ahead of schedule, as evidenced by the Athens suburban rail project or CTRL (Channel Tunnel Rail Link) in the UK. The approach also offers a controlled budget and guaranteed financing.

Global system knowledge

Alstom is proficient in all of the activities of a rail system (infrastructure, track laying, electrification, electric and mechanical equipment, rolling stock, signalling, depots, maintenance…) for regional, high and very high-speed lines. The cross-disciplinary return on experience extracted and leveraged by our teams in project management, interface management, subsystems integration and RAMS (reliability, availability, maintainability and safety) is a key asset in delivering an optimised solution to meet project requirements.

The best in railway technology

Alstom’s cross-disciplinary exchanges enable projects to benefit from the most innovative products and processes, delivering major benefits to transport users. One of our key references is the very first very high-speed turnkey system, KTX in Korea, which today carries 40 million passengers per year. The introduction of this new very high-speed service reduced journey times between Seoul and Busan from 250 minutes to just 160. In the UK, the new CTRL cut a further 20 minutes off journey times for Eurostar passengers.
