Alstom launches training centre in partnership with Azerbaijan Technical University

“Alstom believes that the private sector must work with academic institutions to support the future workforce and ensure they have the skills and experiences needed to succeed in the job market. Such collaborations accelerate development of science and technology and encourages these young engineers to apply their learnings to solve real mobility challenges and improve the transport system of tomorrow,” said Samira Najafova, HR Business Partner Alstom Azerbaijan.

Alstom is committed to supporting the industry and community and has partnered with several other universities and non-profit organisations on programmes to support the youth in Azerbaijan. These include cooperation with National Aviation Academy, Azerbaijan-French University (UFAZ), Baku State Industry and Innovation Vocational Education Centre and, also AFchamber HR Committee & Education Committee joint events, conferences, and workshops to eliminate the gap between national curricula and real labour market requirements.

Alstom has been present in Azerbaijan since 2008. Starting in 2015, Alstom’s focus was entirely on transport and supporting the Caucasian region’s mobility needs. With 30 employees based in Baku, Alstom supplied three metro trainsets to Baku Metro and supplied 50 locomotives to Azerbaijan Railways (ADY). Alstom is present in Western and Central Asia with more than 1,000 people, three country offices in Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, five depots, a repair centre and two plants.
